USA TRIATHLON SANCTIONED
We are pleased to announce that the Mideast Multi-Sport Series is sanctioned by USA Triathlon. All rules and regulations set forth by the national office will be enforced on race day. Entrants must show proof of membership at packet pick-up. Membership is offered two (2) ways: 1. ) You may apply for an annual USAT membership ($30) prior to the race by calling USA Triathlon at (719) 597-9090 or by signing-up on-line at www.usatriathlon.org. *NOTE: Applying for an annual membership prior to the event takes 3-4 weeks for processing, so think ahead. 2.) You may apply for a one-day event permit for $10.00. This fee will be added to your entry fee and forwarded to the national office. *Note: Entries are nontransferable.

Triathlon/Duathlon: 7:00am
ABOUT THE RACES:
TRIATHLON: Swim 1/2 mile-Bike 17 miles (bike course could change pending emergency road construction)-Run 5K
DUATHLON: Run 2 miles-Bike 17 miles-Run 5K
Note: Triathletes and Duathletes can enter as a single participant or as a "relay team".
SWIM/RUN: Triathletes: Swim 1/2 mile Duathletes: RUN 2-mile
Triathletes will begin with a 1/2 mile swim along the beach front of Alum Creek State Park. Wet suits are permitted unless the water is too warm as determined by USA Triathlon. Water temperature is typically in the low 80's/high 70's. Swim caps will be provided. Expect about 6-8 separate "wave" starts grouped according to age group. Swim "wave" information will be included in the race confirmation packet and on race day.
Duathletes will start at the beginning of the first "swim heat" with a 2 mile "out and back" run.
BIKE: 17 miles (bike course pending due to road construction)
Triathletes and duathletes will merge together inside the "transition" area to begin a scenic 17.1 mile bike race . Bike helmets are ALWAYS MANDATORY and drafting rules enforced. No headsets please. Roads are well paved with a few gently rolling hills.
RUN: 5K
Athletes will cycle back to the transition area to begin a 3.1 mile run. The race finishes along the beautiful beach front of Alum Creek State Park.
NOTE: USA Triathlon rules will be strictly enforced to assure the safety and wellness of each competitior. PLEASE be familiar with all of the rules and regulations of drafting, passing, and bike helmet standards.
RACE DIVISIONS
AGE GROUP: 16-17, 18-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+....... PLEASE NOTE - All age group athletes must participate and compete in the age group division corresponding to the athlete’s age on December 31 of the year for the event
RELAY (MEN/WOMEN/MIXED): Athletes will compete as a "team".
CRUISER/ATHENA: 190LBS/MEN 150LBS/WOMEN (honor system)
AWARDS: AGE GROUP/CLYDESDALE/ATHENA: Top 3 per division. Awards are based on pre-registration numbers on the Wednesday before the event and will be issued accoring to your age on RACE DAY.
CHIP TIMING: Electronic timing chips will be issued on race day for fast and accurate results.
NO TRANSFER POLICY IS STRICLY ENFORCED. If you can not make the race please notify the office for entry into next year's race.
RACE PACKETS: Your Wendy’s race packet will include a colorful technical shirt with the official race logo, EAS Sports Nutritional product, swim cap, race number, bike frame number, finish line food and beverage. ALL TRIATHLON AND DUATHLON FINISHERS ARE AWARDED HANDSOME MEDALS WITH RIBBON.

RACE DAY REGISTRATION AND PACKET PICK-UP: Alum Creek State Park starting at 5:30am. Please arrive early for race day registration.
DIRECTIONS TO RACE SITE: NOTE-THE ACCESS ROAD FROM ROUTR 23 TO ALUM CREEK STATE PARK IS CLOSED. PLEASE USE THESE DIRECTIONS ON RACE DAY. From Columbus take I-71 north past the 270 outer belt (the next exit is Polaris). Take the Polaris exit and turn RIGHT. Go about 1/2 mile and turn left at Worthingtn Road. Take Worthington Road about 1 mile at turn left on Africa Road.Go a couple miles and turn left at the (Lewis Center and Walnut Road) intersection. Go about one mile on Lewis Center. Alum Creek State Park is located about two miles on the right side of the road.

STORM ALERTS AND BAD WEATHER CONDITIONS: The race start (7am) is based on safe weather conditions according to the National Weather Center in Wilmington, Ohio. Storms and/or lightening could delay or possibly cancel the event. Please try to monitor race day conditions and dress accordingly. No refunds will be issued upon cancellation of the race but discounts will be honored for next years race.

ATTENTION USAT ENTHUSIASTS:
The Regional Coordinator of Officials, Mideast Region, will be conducting a USA Triathlon New Official's Clinic on Saturday, June 11, 2011 in cooperation with The Wendy's International Triathlon.
Interested parties should be prepared to participate in a 2 hour training seminar at "The Place" starting at 4:00 PM on Saturday, June 11. There will be an open book examination to be completed before the seminar.
The following morning, new Officials will work the Wendy's Triathlon.
New Officials are required to be in good health, and willing to be passengers on the back of a motorcycle so they may monitor the bicyclists on the Triathlon course. There is a suggested weight limit of 215 lbs due to weight limitations on some motorcycles, due to safety concerns.
